Our Process
Our Process at Etowah Recovery Center
At Etowah Recovery Center, we understand that the journey to recovery is personal and unique to each individual. Our comprehensive treatment process is designed to meet you exactly where you are — whether you’re coming from an acute crisis, detox, or residential treatment. With a focus on addiction treatment, mental health, and overall wellness, we provide the support you need to heal and reclaim your life.
We offer a range of evidence-based programs in Georgia, including our Partial Hospitalization or Day Treatment program, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and long-term relapse remission through outpatient therapy. Our approach is tailored to help you achieve lasting recovery by building a solid foundation of stability, emotional well-being, and relapse prevention.
Acute Crisis & Detox:
A Safe Start to Recovery
The recovery journey begins with a critical step: ensuring your safety and stability. If you’re coming from an acute crisis or need detox services, our team is here to guide you through the first phase of recovery. We provide medically supervised detoxification in a safe and supportive environment to help manage withdrawal symptoms. Our experienced staff ensures that you’re comfortable and well-cared for as your body begins the process of healing.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – Day Treatment
Once detoxification is complete, the next step in the recovery process is transitioning into our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), also known as Day Treatment. This intensive program offers a structured treatment approach that meets your needs during early recovery. PHP is ideal for individuals who need more support than outpatient therapy but do not require inpatient care.
In our PHP, you’ll receive:
- Therapy sessions focused on addiction treatment, mental health, and emotional healing
- Individual counseling to address personal struggles and recovery goals
- Group therapy to foster connection, peer support, and shared recovery experiences
- Life skills training to help you manage stress, build healthy habits, and strengthen relationships
- Case management to ensure you’re on track with your treatment plan and goals
This program provides you with the tools and support needed to stabilize your recovery and move forward confidently.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
As you gain stability and progress in your recovery, the next step is our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). IOP provides a step-down from PHP, offering a less intensive level of care while still providing structured, in-depth support. This program is perfect for individuals transitioning from higher levels of care, such as detox or residential treatment, to outpatient care.
IOP offers:
- Continued individual therapy for deeper emotional exploration and ongoing recovery goals
- Intensive group therapy to foster peer support, build accountability, and process recovery challenges
- Relapse prevention strategies to help you maintain progress and manage triggers
- Mental health integration to address underlying mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma
IOP helps you strengthen your recovery foundation, develop coping skills, and ensure long-term success in sobriety.

Long-Term Relapse Remission
& Outpatient Therapy
The final phase of your recovery journey focuses on long-term relapse remission and maintaining progress in Outpatient Therapy. At Etowah Recovery Center, we’re committed to supporting you in the long run by offering outpatient therapy designed to address your ongoing needs. Our outpatient services provide the flexibility and continued care necessary to stay focused on recovery while reintegrating into daily life.
In outpatient therapy, you will receive:
- Ongoing individual counseling to address life changes, recovery maintenance, and personal growth
- Supportive group therapy to maintain peer connections and share recovery experiences
- Family therapy to strengthen relationships and promote a strong support system
- Aftercare planning to ensure you have the resources and tools to continue thriving after treatment
